THE DAVID RAFT FELLOWSHIP
The David Raft Fellowship for Psychoanalytic Education has been created by the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation through a generous gift from Elizabeth Raft, MD. The first David Raft Fellowship will be awarded in fall 2007 to one student or trainee enrolled in or planning to enroll in one of the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Society's training divisions. The David Raft Fellowship will provide up to $1,250 to help defray the costs of tuition. Raft Fellowship
NCPF JOURNALISM STUDENT AWARD The NCPF Medical Journalism Award recognizes and encourages outstanding journalism that promotes mental health and contributes to the understanding of psychoanalysis among the general public. A $1,000 award is given annually to a student at the UNC-CH School of Journalism and Mass Communication who presents the strongest proposal for a journalism project related to mental health in any media. Past awards have been given for projects addressing the role of psychotherapy in the treatment of dementia, the psychology of weight loss, parenting within the culture of autism, and the role of psychotherapy in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Open Sky Children's Scholarship Fund The NCPF is pleased to announce the establishment of the Open Sky Children's Scholarship Fund. The Open Sky Fund will be used to provide scholarship support for financially-needy and/or at-risk children, as identified by the Scholarship Committee, to attend the Open Sky Aikikai School of Martial Arts. Fellowship Program of the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) The APsaA Fellowship Program is open to psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers at various levels of training, as well as to scholars and community leaders who wish to expand their knowledge of psychoanalysis. All applicants are assigned psychoanalyst mentor with whom they meet to discuss their interest in psychoanalysis. They also receive a free subscription to the newsletter of the Association and complimentary registration at annual meetings of the Association.
